Hearing Protection Leaking?
High risk of hearing damage.

People wearing badly fitting earplugs have a greater risk of hearing damage than people not wearing earplugs.

In the Belgian newspaper 'De Morgen', audiologist Bart Vinck from Gent University emphasized that tested hearing protection provides good protection, but "the consumer must have their earplugs tested".
Gent University and a consumer organisation sent dozens of people out to buy hearing protection from different outlets. The research participants then visited a three hour concert at an average sound level of 105 dB. Afterwards more than half of the people showed a significant loss of hearing due to leaking hearing protection.

According to Vinck "When you apply a hearing protector that doesn't fit well or the filter does not work properly, sound will enter your ear, where it cannot leave your ear and will be directed to the eardrum. Your ears will get more sound to handle which raises the risk of hearing damage."
